The 18th Annual Fill the Mayflower food and funds drive is tomorrow!

The 18th Annual Fill the Mayflower food and funds drive – presented by Coastal Moving & Storage and benefitting Manna Food Bank – is tomorrow, November 21. The public is invited to help fill the Mayflower truck this Thanksgiving season with healthy food for children, families, individuals, senior citizens, and veterans in need in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

Manna’s Fill the Mayflower food drive plays a critical role in meeting the needs of the hungry in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. Particularly now, in the midst of the longest government shutdown in history, the contributions, in part, will be used to support many people who have never needed Manna’s resources before - furloughed military personnel, SNAP recipients not receiving benefits, and all those affected by cuts to social service programs. Now more than ever, Manna invites the community to take action – donate, volunteer, and help Fill the Mayflower to bring hope and nourishment to our neighbors in need.

Coastal Moving & Storage and Manna, along with media partners at Cat Country 98.7, NewsRadio 92.3, and WEAR ABC 3 News, invite the public to donate nutritious nonperishable food items and monetary gifts (cash, credit/debit cards, and checks accepted) on Friday, November 21, from 5:00 AM to 6:30 PM, in the Dillard’s parking lot at Cordova Mall (5100 North Ninth Avenue, Pensacola), south of BJ’s Restaurant, to benefit our neighbors in need.

Donating is easy, and supporters can remain in their vehicles! Volunteers will offload food donations from vehicles and accept financial gifts. A donation of just $25.00 will provide food for five days to a child in need, and $50.00 will provide 30 healthy meals for a senior citizen.

Manna’s most needed food items are:

·       Canned Beans (20 oz. or less)

·       Oatmeal (boxes of single-serve packets)

·       Canned Mixed Vegetables (16 oz. or less)

·       Canned Fruit in 100% Juice (20 oz. or less)

·       Microwaveable Dinners (e.g. Hormel Compleats)

·       Peanut Butter (1 lb. jars and individual to-go cups)

·       Chicken and Tuna (canned and pouches, 12.5 oz. or less)

Manna accepts and appreciates all non-perishable food donations. To ensure food safety, we cannot accept any rusty or unlabeled cans, perishable items, homemade items, non-commercial canned or packaged goods, alcoholic beverages, or items that have been used or opened.

Fill the Mayflower is made possible by Coastal Moving & Storage, media partners Cat Country 98.7, NewsRadio 92.3, WEAR ABC 3 News, and Cordova Mall.
