Manna and AIA Florida Northwest announce the 2021 PensaCan Award Winners

The annual event benefits the hungry served by Manna Food Bank

Pensacola, FL (October 11, 2021) – Last week, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Florida Northwest partnered with Manna again for this year’s PensaCan: Demolish Hunger, Design Hope. PensaCan is a competition where architectural firms and community amateurs create impressive structures made entirely out of full cans of food. Following a week-long display of the structures at Cordova Mall, all food structures were donated to Manna for distribution to the hungry of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

This year, Manna received 5,010 pounds of food from PensaCan participants. The donation will provide the equivalent of more than 5,230 healthy meals for neighbors in need.

The 2021 PensaCan structures included: CanBob CanPants by Dalrymple | Sallis Architecture, Canska by Goodwyn Mills Cawood, CANtopus by PRIME AE Group, and USS Fight Hunger by STOA Architects.

Before the team names of each structure were revealed, a panel of judges voted on various award categories. The final category, the People’s Choice Award, was voted on by the public October 1-8. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Florida Northwest and Manna are pleased to announce the winners of the 2021 PensaCan Awards:
